Vorstellung (2024)

Created by Emmanouil Kanellos, Vorstellung is a VR project which blurred boundaries between music and environmental sound within a virtual industrial world.

I enjoyed the opportunity to experiment with shifts between rhythm-led passages of pounding machinery and other sections which emphasised gentler, more diffuse environmental sounds of winds and impressions of distant mechanical activity.

If Only I Could Get in the Habit of it (2023)

My latest composition, If Only I Could Get in the Habit of it (2023), is available as part of Hatch's compilation, Rats In The Meter: New Music From Hatch & Friends Vol. 3.

Sounds I used include:

• a recording of the paternoster lift in The University of Sheffield's Arts Tower
• William Tait playing drums in some woods near High Bradfield
• me screaming into a kazoo, in the same woodland near High Bradfield
• resonating pipes caused by faulty plumbing
